Advanced Cosmetic Procedures - effective removal of skin disorders and blemishes
What to Expect

Most ACP treatments give superb results with some blemishes being completely removed leaving no visible evidence of their existence.  Even quite large skin defects can be treated so as to leave little or no flaw, particularly when compared to the scarring that remains following traditional surgical removal.

The Treatment Process

Initial Consultation:
During your initial consultation, you will be asked for contact details, medical and lifestyle background and you will discuss your reasons for seeking treatment with the ACP practitioner.  Your skin blemishes will be examined and suitability for treatment established.  Prior to the removal of some lesions, you may be asked to obtain permission from your GP. You will be asked to read and sign a consent form and will be given a leaflet on aftercare to read and to take away with you. There is no charge for this consultation.  Charges only apply to treatment time.

The Treatment:
The treatment itself consists of inserting a short, sterile (disposable, surgical) probe, not much larger in diameter than a hair or very fine bristle, into the lesion. A fraction of a second burst of energy (diathermy) is passed down the probe and the blood supply to the blemish is cauterised. Depending on the size and nature of the blemish, a number of quick insertions may be necessary but each pulse is so short that the sensation is normally described as a quick "zap".  Most people liken the level of discomfort to that of plucking out a hair or a slight sting.

Within an hour or so, a temporary scab forms over the area though even this is commonly smaller and less obtrusive than the original blemish.  If allowed to fall off naturally, there should be no scarring.

In the case of some larger lesions, the skin exposed after the scab has fallen off will be pale pink, like the new skin under any scab, but this too fades over the course of the next few weeks.
